Navy News Website Assessment
Liberty Bell

Web design assignment. Due Feb. 8th, 2007. Find a web page, do summary, and place findings on my own web page.

Navy.mil is the official website for the United States Navy. This website allows you to read information about the United States Navy, and is constantly posting breaking news stories about our troops.
This website is very user friendly. All of the information is easy to  get to and is laid out in an easy to understand way. Everything is listed by either date, location, or topic, which allows you to access any of the information quickly. There is also an e-mail link on the bottom, just in case you do run into trouble while using the site. This helps with being able to find a human contact if one is needed.
The hompage of Navy.mil has links that lead you to other pages connected to this particular website. If it does not have the link you are looking for, it does offer an advanced search option at the very top of the page so you can quickly find what it is you are looking for.
As soon as the homepage opens everything they have to offer is visible immediately. You don't have to waste your time flipping through lots of different pages to find what you want. It's all here, collected on one page for you to browse. This saves time and effort.
The homepage of Navy.mil has a horizontal design, same as all of it's other pages. Each section is unique, yet they have created them in such a way that you automatically see the connection in design that they have with one another. The different section's of the site also behave consistently relative to all the other pages in that particular section of the site.
I think Navy.mil is an extraordinary website. They have everything laid out in a professional manner, which we would expect from The United States Navy. Most importantly, it is one of the most user-friendly sites i have every visited. It would be the first website i would recommend to someone who has a loved one on deployment with the Navy, and wants to be able to keep up with how they are doing and where they might be at.

What's New?

Here I might add an entry whenever I make an update to my web site. Where appropriate, I'll include a link to the change. For example:

2/7/07  Pictures from Brad Hoffman's deployment
2/7/07  Pictures of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagon, Air-Strike Carrier
